    Ningbo is the first in the province to achieve full coverage of real-time monitoring of the ecological flow of small hydropower stations

    Retrofitting direct power supply, installing solar panels, and upgrading monitoring facilities...... In the past two days, the transformation of the ecological flow discharge equipment of the two small hydropower stations in Hongyanling and Waiyuanlongtou in Ninghai County has been completed, marking that the city is the first in the province to achieve full coverage of real-time monitoring of the ecological flow of small hydropower stations.

    Small hydropower station refers to a kind of hydropower station that uses the drop formed by scattered streams, small rivers or irrigation canals to generate electricity, and its ecological flow discharge is the main measure to revive the ecological environment of rivers and lakes. When small hydropower stations are discharged, how much is the quota, and how to ensure the full discharge of small hydropower stations all need to be monitored in real time.

    In 2020, Yuyao took the lead in the province to achieve full coverage of real-time monitoring of small hydropower stations; In 2022, Haishu will complete the transformation of real-time monitoring equipment for 11 small hydropower stations; From 2022 to 2023, Fenghua will complete the transformation of real-time monitoring equipment for 28 small hydropower stations in batches...... At present, there are 125 small hydropower stations in the city with ecological flow discharge tasks.

    In recent years, the city has strictly implemented the “one station one policy”, scientifically formulated the discharge quota according to the rainfall collection area and the ecological needs of the downstream river, and transformed the real-time monitoring equipment in batches, and has completed the established task of the Provincial Department of Water Resources on the real-time monitoring of the ecological flow of small hydropower stations one year ahead of schedule.

    In the transformation, the city uses a miniature piston pump as a blowing and impounding device, converts the hydrostatic pressure of the underwater measuring point into a gas pressure value, and leads it to the water surface through the measuring tube, and then conducts induction treatment through the pressure sensor, which has successively overcome the problems of small on-site flow and difficult to measure, and complex on-site flow conditions that are inconvenient for direct measurement.

    “We have signed a framework agreement with the Rural Electrification Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources on the green development of small hydropower in Ningbo, and jointly drafted the Guiding Opinions on Further Strengthening the Safety Production Management of Small Hydropower Stations in Ningbo. In the next step, the two sides will make every effort to build safe hydropower, ecological hydropower, modern hydropower, and co-prosperity hydropower on the basis of improving the ecological flow supervision capacity of small hydropower stations. The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Reservoir Management Center said.
